The various grades of Tyvek paper fall under these two main
umbrellas:
1. Hard Structure (Paper-like) These styles are
thermally bonded throughout, giving them stiffness and a
crisp paper feel. They are highly opaque, tear-resistant,
fold well (dead-fold), and are excellent for printing and
heavy-duty tags.
Tyvek® 1025D: A lightweight, highly
printable 41.5 GSM sheet used for lightweight maps, tickets,
and high-quality graphics.
Tyvek® 1056D: A 55 GSM
lightweight sheet offering excellent fold endurance;
primarily utilized for envelopes, tags, and basic graphics.
Tyvek® 1070D / 1073D: The classic, all-rounder papers (74 to
75 GSM). They are relatively stiff and are widely used for
tough outdoor maps, manuals, and archival applications.
Tyvek® 1082D: The heaviest “paper” grade (105 GSM). It has a
robust, cardboard-like stiffness and is ideal for heavy-duty
wristbands, banner-stand materials, and sturdy packaging.

Soft Structure (Fabric-like) These are lightly bonded with
an embossed pattern, giving them a softer, flexible feel
that drapes like cloth but maintains Tyvek's puncture- and
tear-resistant qualities.
Tyvek® 1443R: A 42.5 to 43 GSM
grade with a textile-like feel. Widely used for protective
coveralls, promotional bags, and lightweight crafts.
Tyvek® 1442R: Similar to 1443R, a lightweight (43 GSM)
breathable and drapeable material often used in apparel and
consumer goods. [1, 2]
Tyvek® 1473R: A slightly heavier
soft-structure grade (approx. 57 GSM) used for specialized
textile-like applications where higher tear resistance is
needed.
3. Medical and Sterile Packaging Grades These grades
feature superior microbial barrier properties and
breathability, allowing for sterilization.
Tyvek® 1073B: The
strongest medical-grade style (74 GSM), used extensively for
packaging heavy or high-risk medical devices.
Tyvek® 1059B:
A lighter weight medical-grade option (68 GSM) used for
smaller, lighter, or less risky medical devices.
Tyvek®
2FS™: The lightest medical grade (approx. 60 GSM), providing
excellent puncture resistance and an ultra-fine microbial
barrier for form-fill-seal packaging.
